Internationally Indian: Celebrities Who Made Big News in January
The last decade has seen India earning a big name among international audience. From enriching Hollywood to TV series and even with their political presence, Indian celebrities are traversing the field with great enthusiasm. This is not only showcasing Indian talent on a bigger platform, but is also attempting at promoting a sense of global harmony.
Priyanka Chopra with her TV Series Quantico and now with the release of her new show Baywatch; Deepika Padukone with her movie xXx: Return of Xander Cage, opposite the Fast and the Furious fame actor Vin Diesel; and now Sonam Kapoor in line (as she reported in the latest show of Koffee with Karan); we see Indian celebrities exploring and adding to the international culture. Sonam Kapoor also appeared, briefly, in the Cold Play song ‘Hymn for the Weekend’ ft. Beyonce.

Priyanka Chopra bags her second People’s Choice award in the Favourite Dramatic TV Actress category. She wins it for her role as CIA agent Alex Parrish in the TV series Quantico. She competed for this trophy with Kerry Washington, Ellen Pompeo Viola Davis, Taraji P Henson and Viola Davis. PC won her first people’s choice award for the same show, in the category Favourite Actress in a New TV Series, in 2016. Her flirty peach outfit matched with strappy metallic sandals made as big a news as the award.
Miss India World 2010 Manasvi Mamgai is in the headlines for her grand performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration celebrations. The event was held at Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. The Action Jackson actress performed on Bollywood hit tracks like ‘Jai Ho’, ‘Jumme Ki Raat’, ‘Kala Chashma’ and ‘Dhoom Machale’. She also campaigned for Trump in the US Presidential election.
India welcomed American Actor Vin Diesel on January 13th. On his first visit to India, the actor promoted his new release xXx: Return of Xander Cage, where he is co-starring with Deepika Padukone. It was a grand episode where women dressed in authentic Maharashtrian attire greeted the actor with tika and aarti. The film is a sequel to xXx (released in 2002) and xXx: State of the Union (released in 2005). The romantic relationship between Diesel and Padukone in the movie encourages global-harmony, addresses.
